Notice to WHTC members regarding Novel Coronavirus outbreak

Wheelers Hill Tennis Club has been requested by The City of Monash that this message be sent to all members concerning the Novel Coronavirus outbreak.

Dear all Active Monash Clubs,

We wish to update you all around the recent Coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan precinct in China. As always, the safety of our community is our top priority and Monash Council will continue to monitor the situation and keep our community updated.

We are following the guidelines set down by the Federal  and State Governments and the World Health Organisation, who are the experts in this matter.

There is no advice from either that any public facilities need to be closed.

The government is advising that anyone who travelled to the Wuhan Province of China should isolate themselves from the public for 14 days (the incubation time of the virus) from when they returned from the visit. This includes not going out in public, not going to work, and keeping children home from school and childcare.

If you or anyone you know has travelled to these areas or been in contact with someone who has the virus, or you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms (cough, sore throat), please visit a GP immediately.
Council is working with the Department of Health and Human Services on this issue and we will continue to vigilantly monitor any increased warnings about its spread. We will continue to keep our community updated.

However, you can find out more information at this link https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/novelcoronavirus which provides some advice about the next steps to take if you are unwell with the virus.  You can also call the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to discuss further actions on 1300 651 160.

Good hygiene practices are critical to prevent the spread of the virus. There are a number of ways to protect yourself and prevent any spread of the virus. These include using a tissue to cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing, regularly washing of hands with soap after using the toilet and before eating. Posters will be put up around the club reinforcing good hygiene practices.
